Australia’s Biggest School Hoops Event Is Here

226 teams. 2,700 athletes. One massive week on the Gold Coast as the 2025 Foot Locker Australian School Championships tip off.

It’s one of the biggest events on Basketball Australia’s calendar.

226 teams and more than 2,700 athletes have arrived on the Gold Coast from all across Australia and are ready to hit the courts tomorrow as the 2025 Foot Locker Australian School Championships tip off for the biggest edition in the event’s history.

The Championships officially open this afternoon (Sunday 30 November) with the Opening Ceremony, before five massive days of competition run from Monday 1 December to Friday 5 December across the Under-20, Under-17 and Under-15 divisions.

The Gold Coast Sports & Leisure Centre will once again come to life with food trucks, merch, music, partner activations and good vibes all around.

Head of Events Sarah Monck said the team is proud to deliver an event of this scale, with the Championships setting new benchmarks again in 2025 by welcoming St Joseph’s from Santa Maria, California — the first American school to join the competition.

“This event is the best kind of basketball madness,” Monck laughed.

“This year we’ve got athletes coming in from absolutely everywhere — even New Zealand and America — it’s massive and we love it.

“The way school communities show up for this event is something we’re incredibly proud of, and it really shows how strong the basketball community is.”

Last year, Berwick College claimed the Championship Men’s title, edging Trinity College in a ten-point victory, while Brisbane State High School delivered a flawless undefeated run to take out the Championship Women’s crown.

The sidelines will again feature a who’s-who of Australian basketball, with Olympians, Hall of Famers, WNBL and NBL champions guiding their teams throughout the week.

With more than 730 games scheduled, thousands of supporters across four venues and future stars ready to emerge, the 2025 Foot Locker Australian School Championships are set for another huge week of basketball.
