Lake Ginninderra have powered their way to a 118 - 85 title with a dominant display against Willeton SHS.
Centre of Excellence & Australia U19 duo Ajak Nyuon and Alex Dickeson proved unstoppable in the match-up.
Nyuon’s size and touch with the long ball was on full display in the final with the ACT local dominating with 35 points, 12 rebounds. Dickeson’s aggressive play with the rock in hand was tough to stop as the exciting young guard relentlessly challenged a defense in transition. Dickeson finished with 28 points, 16 rebounds.
The dynamic duo were complimented perfectly by Austin Fage and Aleer Chol, who put the hammer down from long range in the second half to shut the door.
It must be said, that Willeton SHS made the Final for a reason. The West Australian outfit started well and mounted a defiant challenge in the third, led by Leon Maguire and Channing Olowoyo.
The Lakers went undefeated across the tournament and will be taking gold back to the Capital in '25.
Earlier in the day, Southport School claimed bronze in the early fixture 106 - 93 over Templestowe. A three headed dragon featuring Sam Scott (30 points), Riley Oberman (26) and Ashley McGrath (20 points) lit it up.
Eros Addamo had 26 points, 12 rebounds for Templestowe, Xavier Toohey with 20.
MEN - STAT LEADERS
Brisbane SHS have held on for a 67 – 65 thriller against Barker College.
Alleah Hanson scored the go-ahead bucket with 1.8 seconds remaining to clinch back-to-back championships for Brisbane State High School 67 – 65 over Barker..
It was a thrilling triumph for Brisbane, led with 21 points for Hanson and Prasayus Notoa (14 points, 9 assists, 16 rebounds) and Jay Sebaslo (14 points, 4 assists, 7 rebounds).
Barker College represented New South Wales with pride and fought to the final buzzer. U17 Sapphires and NSW gun Jessie-May Hall finished with 27 points, Izabella Mansory with 19.
In the bronze medal game Lake Ginninderra from ACT stood tall for a 91 – 60 win over Rowville. Zara Russell led the way with 23 points, 14 rebounds, Maya Hart with 20 and Lily Mapp amassed 24 rebounds to go with 15 points from the floor.
A commendable campaign for Victoria’s Rowville SC. Makayla Craven top scored with 15 points in the Final, Vanessa Tavete had 13 and Tiedore Puoch with 10.
