Basketball Australia is pleased to announce a two-year extension of its partnership with the City of Moreton Bay and the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland, which will see Moreton Bay continue to host the Foot Locker Under-18 and National Junior Wheelchair Championships through to 2028.
Building on the success of recent tournaments, the Foot Locker Under-18 and National Junior Wheelchair Championships bring together the nation’s top young basketball talent, with athletes, coaches, officials, families and supporters travelling to Moreton Bay from all across Australia to compete.
Basketball Australia Executive General Manager of High Performance Jason Smith, who made the announcement at the Closing Ceremony of the 2026 Foot Locker Under-18 and National Junior Wheelchair Championships, said Basketball Australia was thrilled to continue its relationship with The City of Moreton Bay and Tourism and Events Queensland.
“Over the last few years, we have loved bringing this event to Moreton Bay. The facilities, location, weather and community atmosphere make it a wonderful place for athletes, families, and supporters to come together, and we are very excited to be back here for the next two years.
“I’d like to thank the City of Moreton Bay, the venue teams, council representatives, volunteers and the local community who have helped make this event such a success.
"I’d also like to thank the Australian Government and the Australian Sports Commission for its ongoing investment in basketball, which provides important support that helps Basketball Australia deliver events like these.
“With Brisbane 2032 on the horizon, it is an incredibly exciting time to be in this region. There is real momentum building around sport, infrastructure and opportunity, and Moreton Bay is going to play an important role in that journey."
The Under-18 National Junior Wheelchair Championships is supported by the City of Moreton Bay and the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland.
